"Why do you peel these vegetables?" I asked the maid at my friend's home. "Don't know, but I do it in most of the houses", she said. "And, what about yours?", I asked. "No, never. I have very short time", she said, adding, "However, I've heard that all the Vitamins embed in it"
"Peeling vegetables and fruits have become fashion", says Anjani Mishra, a student aspiring for MBA. My mother always scold us, but, my mother-in-law like it. So I prefer peeling, said a colleague.
Many of us practice such bad habits, despite being aware. But, experts recommend the whole fruit, whole grain, whole vegetable. In a latest research, it has been found that the whole carrot boiled before chopping possess more anti-cancer benefits. The Mail Online reports:
Cut carrots have a higher surface area in contact with the water, resulting in greater loss of nutrients compared with boiling them whole. The heat softens the cell walls in the vegetable, allowing vitamins and falcarinol to leach out.

Is your door handle elecrified?

By Mriegank Shekhar | Contact Author | Feedback
Recently, when my boss took out his hankie, I thought he would wipe his sweating face or goggles. But NO, he had took it out to open the door. I was, obviously, surprised. Does it happen to many among us? Does everybody feel mild electric shocks while opening doors? About seven years back, my friend Rajesh Pathak once asked me to open the tap of wash basin. When I asked why he didn't do it himself? He said, "I experience some electric shock hitting me."
It was very much surprising for me at that time. I just opened the tap and experienced nothing like shock. I made some enquiry at my level, it was learnt that the electrician had joined a wire with the tap for earth support, in electric wiring. But then I couldn't understand what was the difference between me and my friend. Both are equal in age and possess almost same physique. In January this year, while opening the door of reception at my office, I experienced an irritating shockwave. Afterwards, I also experienced the same whenever I push my car's door to shut or open. Getting non-damaging hurt on touching doors has become a regular feature now. In the meantime, I observed that more and more people use a hankie or some paper or cloth piece to encounter the doorshocks. I've read about electric current in human body, but it's something different. Do you too feel this mild electric shock? Send me your experience. And if, an expert please explain the physioligical reason behind these unwanted happenings.

Do you like black tea? I like, but, not every time it's served. Till recently, it was almost ritual when me and Madan Sahib visit restaurant in first half of the day, sometimes in the evening too. Though Madan Sahib is recovering from a paralytic attack, the routine has been discontinued.
The latest research says that black tea is effective in keeping cardio-vascular diseases away:
According to the study conducted at the University of L'Aquila in Italy and supported by the Lipton Institute of Tea, black tea consumption improves blood vessel reactivity and reduces blood pressure and arterial stiffness, indicating a notably better cardiovascular health profile.
In his book, 'Health in Your Hands', Devendra Vora recommends black tea beneficial for health. He also prescribes black tea to cure kidney related ailments. Some persons, most of my family members, have become habitual of a cup of tea full of ginger and much sugar, but I always prefer it in its original form. Not exactly the black tea, a little milk and sugar should be added for taste.
